There’s more than bragging rights at stake as Bedwas travel to local rivals Bargoed on Saturday in another early kick off (12 midday) due to the Wales v Japan game later in the afternoon.
A mere five league points separate third place RGC and ninth place Cardiff so it this game takes on extra significance.
“Bargoed have ran several teams very close in recent weeks” reflected Head Coach Steve Law, “If we are not at our very best this game has the potential to be a banana skin for us. A local derby including bragging rights adds to the mix but we must ensure we play to the best of our ability.”
Bedwas make very few changes to the side that drew with table toppers Aberavon last time out. The back line keep their places, the one change seeing Luke Crane start at scrum half with Nicky Griffiths moving to the bench. Up front the same front row as last week starts with Dan Preece taking on the Captain’s armband. There’s a welcome return to the second row for Joe Davies who partners Geraint Edmunds in the boiler house. James Richards moves into the back row with George Lee, with Robson Blake returning to number 8 after representing the Newport Gwent Dragons in the Anglo Welsh Cup last week.
The team selected is:
