Bedwas host Merthyr in WRU National Cup

Bedwas host Merthyr on Saturday 18 February in Round 2 of the WRU National Cup. With Merthyr also due to visit Bedwas in the Premiership exactly seven days later and Bedwas having won the first game between the two teams in September everyone connected with the home side is anticipating a hard fought game.

Way back on Saturday 17th September a warm, sunny afternoon at the Wern saw Bedwas produce one of their best performances of the season as 4 tries (one each for Dan Preece and Connor Edwards and a Pat Lewis brace) and 17 points from the reliable boot of Richard Powell saw Bedwas home.

Bedwas Head Coach Steve Law is relishing the thought of making it two Bedwas victories. “As ever we respect our opponents but are concentrating on our own game,” he said. “As a group we have progressed considerably since the game at the Wern and I would like to think we are in a good place going into this game. The boys have stuck together and are playing a good brand of rugby, we are ready for the challenge.”

Bedwas name the following team:

15. Aaron Bramwell, 14. Rory Budina, 13. Adam Williams, 12. Mike Callow, 11. Matthew John, 10. Richard Powell, 9. Nicky Griffiths©, 1. Dan Preece, 2. Alun Rees, 3. Matthew Pettit, 4. Geraint Edmunds, 5. Joe Davies, 6. Andrew Waite, 7. George Lee, 8. Robson Blake.
