The Directors of Bedwas RFC (Bedwas Rugby Ltd 2011) have called an Extraordinary General Meeting for 7pm on Friday 26 May.
The meeting of the club’s membership has been called in order to discuss future challenges and opportunities following Bedwas’ successful 2016/17 season. Difficult trading conditions, exacerbated by irregular fixtures in the 2016/17 season, mean that the club must consider its options with a view to continuing success in the coming season
Director of Finance, David Cousins said: “We’ve been through a lot of change both on and off the field this year. Many clubs in the division have been struggling and we need to evaluate our position and plan for financial security. We are facing some very challenging financial conditions.”
Cousins also said: “The decisions we make now will safeguard rugby in Bedwas for generations to come. It is so important we all get behind the club right now.”
Director of Rugby, Mark Lewis added: “Our boys made some huge achievements last year and Spot [Bedwas RFC’s departing Head Coach] has helped to develop a squad of winners. It is vital we ensure that the club is in a position to further grow his legacy and win big again next year.”
All members, volunteers, supporters and friends of Bedwas are encouraged to attend the meeting so that they can have their say on the future direction of the organisation.
