Weekend Round-Up

It was a good day for Bedwas supporters as both senior teams won their first preseason games, and the Youth began their campaign with a draw against Newbridge Youth. Images of Athletic and Youth games with grateful thanks to Angela Brideaux.

The first team made the short trip to neighbours Caerphilly coming away with a win 52 points to 14. Tries were scored by: Hamish Anderson, Mike Dacey, Aaron Billingham, Will Mahoney (2), Christian Francis (2) and Cyle Powell. James Hallett added six conversions.

The Athletic side had a late fixture change and welcomed the Nelson Nomads to the Bridgefield. The home side held on at the death to emerge victors by 15 points to 14. Try scorers were Owain Brideaux and Tyler Picton, Owain Thomas adding a penalty and a conversion.

The Youth team played their first game of their comeback season and drew 22 points all. Try scorers were Max Percival, Cam Lay, Cian McGee and Liam Wallen. One conversion was kicked by Max Marshall.

Next Saturday Bedwas first team host Aberavon RFC in the second of three pre-season games. Kick off at the Bridgefield is 2-30pm.
