Bedwas begins preseason fixtures

Bedwas RFC began their ON field preparations for the new season by hosting Newport RFC on a very warm August afternoon; the pitch being hard due to the lack of rain throughout the summer writes Ian Lovell.

Newport opened the scoring on four minutes with a converted try.

Bedwas hit back with a Tristan Kugler try after thirteen minutes converted by James Dixon. It continued a competitive game with Bedwas taking the lead with a try through new signing at Number 8 Dylan Lawley converted by Dixon with just shy of a half hour played.

No further scores came in the first half, but Bedwas increased their lead after three minutes of the second half with Dale Rogers crossing, again converted by Dixon.

Newport made a host of changes and two tries in three minutes, the second converted put Bedwas on the back foot.

Two further tries, again, one converted gave Bedwas too much to do on the day, but the home side can hold their heads high having competed well throughout the game.

Bedwas RFC would like to thank the players and supporters of Newport RFC for making the trip to Bedwas for this fixture; we wish them a successful season.

Next Friday evening (14th August) we welcome Bridgend Ravens to the Bridgefield for our second pre-season fixture; kick-off is at 7-15pm.
