Bedwas Barbarians 22 – 12 Pill Harriers

A second half revival led the Wass Baa Baas to taking the spoils over a strong Pill Harriers side.
After a slow start in the first half, with two unsuccessful penalty kicks, the Barbarians found themselves trailing at the break by a converted try.
Coaches Shane Kugler, Dean Picton, Alan Brideaux & Liam Lintern made a few alterations at the interval and the boys from the Bridgefield came out firing from the off.
Bedwas finally got themselves up and running with a great pick and drive, powering Number 8. Alex Kawulok over the whitewash. The conversion was missed.
Pill failed to reply as soon after, a great run from Tristan Kugler set up some great structured phases, a carry from Alex Kawulok and a brilliant offload to send the ball through the hands to Will Jones on the wing to cross the line for their second try. Conversion added by Tyler Picton.
The game soon became open to either side as Pill crossed the line however failed to convert, bringing the scores even.
Towards the final quarter, Bedwas found themselves in the opposition twenty-two, a chip over the top from Tristan Kugler found its way into the in-goal area via the boot of Saul Down and was touched down by Tyler Picton to add another five points to the board.

As the final 5 minutes of the game loomed, Bedwas were awarded a penalty kick in front of the sticks, Owen Thomas had no problem slotting it between the uprights to seal the win and the important league points for the Barbarian side.
Credit to Pill, who up until the final play of the game, pushed the resilient Bedwas defence, but a knock on after some strong phases, welcomed the final whistle, ending the game with a big victory for the Bedwas Barbarians.
