Local derby time as Bedwas head to Penallta

Bedwas 1st XV make the short journey to Penallta RFC on Saturday (kick-off 2-30pm) and will be hoping to keep up the momentum and record a sixth successive league win.

Reflecting on last week’s victory over Rumney RFC Pat McGee said ‘As a group we know last week’s performance was not at a standard we expect from ourselves. This week we travel to Penallta having trained well all week and are looking to put in a good performance.’

There are a few changes to last weeks starting line-up. We welcome Brynley Toms on permit from Cardiff RFC at tight head prop and Rhys Hutcherson returns at tight head. Tommy Chapman and Jordan Hole take up the second-row positions. Dale Rogers moves back to Number 8, Rhys Jones returns from injury at blind side flanker and Rhys Morgans comes back in at open side.

We welcome Luke Crane on permit from Newport RFC at scrum half. James Dixon continues at outside half with Hamish Anderson moving to the left wing in place of Liam Jenkins. There’s a welcome return for Adam Williams alongside Lewis Bowden at outside centre. Aaron Billingham stays at right wing and Lloyd Wilkins comes back in at full back.

We thank Cardiff RFC and Newport RFC for granting those permits.

On the bench front row cover is provided by Ryan Thomas and the recalled Kalum Phillips. Harry Oliver returns from a winter break and is joined on the bench by backrower Ben Eedy and centre/fullback Sam Davies.
