Bedwas RFC is saddened to learn that long standing former player and member Mike ‘Spikey’ Williams has passed away. Mike is the brother of Funeral Director Ray Williams.

Michal “Spike” Williams. Passed away at his home in Usk on 24/11/2022 aged 77 years.
Spike went to Bedwellty Grammar School and started his rugby playing career in the front row of the school team. After leaving school he played in the first ever Bedwas youth team in 1961.
He also played for the first fifteen for many years ending his rugby days as Captain of Bedwas 2nd fifteen. After packing up his boots he maintained his close relationship with the club serving as its Financial Sectary from 1983 – 1990.
Spike funeral is to take place on Wednesday 14th of December 2022 at The Priory Church of St Marry, Priory St, Usk. NP15 1BN, at midday. Followed by cremation at Langstone Vale Crematorium, Magor Rd, Langstone. NP18 2BP, at 13.30.
After the service all are invited to the Three Salmons 3 Porthycarne St, Usk, NP15 1RY for light refreshments.
