Dear Members and Friends of Bedwas RFC,
I am pleased to be able to give you an update following our latest Annual General Meeting.
Following a discussion and vote at the AGM, it has been decided that Bedwas RFC will pursue Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) status. This will allow us to take advantage of a range of tax advantages that reflect our primary function as a not-for-profit community sports club. This will see our trading name updated from Bedwas Rugby 2011 Ltd to Bedwas Community Rugby. Bedwas Community Rugby will then own a subsidiary company named Bedwas Rugby 2022 Ltd which will incorporate our Championship rugby operations.
As part of this reform and following an election at the AGM I can report that we now welcome some new club directors to the entities. These are:
Bedwas Community Rugby:
Will Rees – Company Secretary
Bill Price – Director of Finance
Gareth Arrowsmith – Director of Rugby
Peter Browning – Director of Sponsorship
Phil O’Connor – Director of Hospitality
Ian Lovell – Director of Communications
Bedwas Rugby 2022 Ltd:
Will Rees – Company Secretary
Bill Price – Director of Finance
Gareth Arrowsmith – Director of Rugby
Peter Browning – Director of Sponsorship
Phil O’Connor – Director of Hospitality
Steven Lloyd-Clubbe – Director of Rugby Operations
Jonathan Lewis – Director of Governance
Joshua Davies – Director of Facilities
More importantly, as we welcome an expanded set of Directors, we will be reforming the way we operate in the club, so we take advantage of all of the talents available to us. Henceforth, in addition to standard Board meetings, we will now have three sub-committees: rugby, commercial and facility. These will be led by Directors with input from other club volunteers, coaches and players and this will replace the general committee.
Hopefully, as time goes on, you will notice a range of improvements across the club as we now have more roles covered than in the last few years. Our mission remains to:- strive for financial sustainability; excellence on the field of play; and the provision of sporting and social opportunities for all via the club. We remain excited about the future of the club and ready to take on the economic and rugby headwinds that lie ahead.
Best wishes,
W H Rees
Secretary
